JIMMY EDGAR x CHEETAH BEND

JIMMY EDGAR releases his first solo album in 9 years, CHEETAH BEND.  The album includes features from Danny Brown, Hudson Mohawke, SOPHIE, Millie Go Lightly, 24HRS, Rochelle Jordan, Matt Ox & more.

“Detroit experimentalist and texture king Jimmy Edgar is the kind of producer that opens a doorway in your mind.” - BILLBOARD

"A full-dive into his hybridised vision of modern hip-hop — a world where shape-shifting, liquid-metal Cyberdyne Systems beats are clothed in the fur coat of virtuoso West Coast funk." - DJ MAG (named CHEETAH BEND Album of the Month)

“Assisted by like-minded electronic vanguards like Hudson Mohawke and the late, great visionary SOPHIE, Edgar expands on the sound he’s established while working in the hip-hop world over the last several years.” - BANDCAMP

“Confident, bold and head-turning music” - CRACK

“No one does music like JIMMY EDGAR. He’s constantly explore new sounds and throwing everything we thought we knew about music into the wind, and we absolutely love it. We’ve been tracking this forward-thinking wizard as he’s steadily rolled out single after single, and today that work comes to a head with the release of his new album, CHEETAH BEND.” - THIS SONG IS SICK

JIMMY EDGAR x NOTICE

Jimmy Edgar has shared “NOTICE,” a new single featuring Atlanta rapper 24HRS, from his fast impending new solo album CHEETAH BEND (out on February 26 via Innovative Leisure). Recorded in Atlanta, the cosmic R&B tune pulls hook friendly chants from 24HRS over the silk laden waves of Jimmy’s Detroit-inspired hot beats. One of music's most versatile producers, Jimmy Edgar is drawing on both his vibrant discography as a producer on the bleeding edge of electronic music (including collaborations with Hudson Mohawk and Machinedrum) as well as his increasing presence in rap circles (including recent productions for Dawn Richards, Vince Staples, OG Maco, and more) to craft a wholly unique sonic space.

CHEETAH BEND is a stunning synthesis of what might seem like disparate styles, unspooling fresh perspectives and glistening sound design that flaunts rules while respecting genre spirit. “The value I bring is hybridization,” Jimmy explains of his approach. “I think about different universes of sound coming together to create an entirely new domain of knowing.” The culmination of a catalog brimming with high points, CHEETAH BEND rewards fans who’ve gladly stuck with him over the years, and invites a new batch of listeners to dive into his world.

JIMMY EDGAR x PAUSE

Following years of collaborations and production for others, JIMMY EDGAR makes his return to solo work with his new album CHEETAH BEND, due out on February 26 via Innovative Leisure, the label also responsible for his recent J-E-T-S output with Machinedrum. Recorded over the past few years in Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles, and beyond, it draws as much upon his vibrant 15+ year discography as a producer on the bleeding edge of electronic music as it does his burgeoning ubiquity in rap circles. Coming eight years after Majenta, the album improbably synthesizes what might seem like disparate styles, unspooling fresh perspectives and glistening sound design that flaunts genre rules while respecting genre spirit. “The value I bring is hybridization,” Jimmy explains of his approach. “I think about different universes of sound coming together to create an entirely new domain of knowing.”  Check out the latest single, "PAUSE," from the upcoming album with features Matt Ox.

JIMMY EDGAR x BE WITH YOU/ZIG ZAG

Jimmy Edgar, one of electronic music's most versatile and unique producers, has just shared another forward-facing double A-side single, comprised of “BE WITH YOU” (featuring the vocal talents of Mille Go Lightly) and the instrumental “ZIG ZAG”. The new singles arrive in the wake of Edgar’s recently released double drop of tracks featuring Danny Brown (“GET UP”) and SOPHIE (“METAL”), as well as his collaboration with Hudson Mohawke earlier this year. The bevy of recent material makes for an ever-expanding body of new music from the genre-bending, boundary-pushing artist as he works toward his next full length project, Cheetah Bend.

As Clash reports: “I met Millie Go Lightly passing by my Atlanta studio; I heard some amazing vocals coming out of the room and my engineer offered to introduce us,” remembers Edgar. “We laughed cause we were wearing the exact same color coordination and couldn’t get past that. I played her some sounds and she went in and freestyled everything on the spot just like the other ATL rap artists I work with. I love her story, too: she’s from London but lasered in on Atlanta and started working with Young Thug, all on a string of inspiration. We are aligned in the sense that she has this infectious confidence and talent to back it up.”

And as Line of Best Fit puts it: “‘ZIGZAG’ is an Autumn song from an animated cauldron where magical beings cast spells on you to confuse and disturb you, causing many distractions in your life moments.,” he continues. “When it finally opens to the end melodies you realize your own power and the only spells cast on you are the ones that you allow.”

Jimmy Edgar x Hudson Mohawke

Originally reported by Hypebeast, Jimmy Edgar and Hudson Mohawke have teamed up on the new "woofer rattler" BENT.  As the article goes on to explain: "the newly-released track originally started off as a loop from HudMo, later reworked by Edgar into a pithy Detroit-meets-London sonic exploration."  Expect more from Edgar later this year.
