Maston x Ghost

In 2018, composer/producer Frank Maston was living in Paris, working on new music when he was introduced to Geneva based band L’Eclair. Blown away by what he heard, there seemed to be a mutual understanding and appreciation for that loungey, groovy world of library and soundtrack music from the seventies. An immediate thought occurred to him - what if he could record with this simpatico group backing him up?

The result is the colorful and kinetic album Souvenirout September 10 on Innovative Leisure / Calico Discos (the label of Cali band Allah Las).

The new single, “Ghost," is centered around a descending chord progression, with cryptic lyrics sung in falsetto. It has an air tight rhythm section, synthesizer acrobatics, a catchy melody and two solo sections. It was one of the first songs written for the record and the music was recorded in one take. The song is both reflective and optimistic, and all around a feel good tune."

Jonah Yano x souvenir
Jonah Yano releases his debut album, souvenir, this week of Father's Day.  As Wonderland Magazine explains in a recent interview: "The 11-track album explores his connection to his Japanese heritage with jazz bass lines and mixtures of soulful melodies and relatable lyrics."  souvenir is available digitally as well as on LP, CD & cassette.
Jonah Yano x strawberry!
Jonah Yano releases "strawberry!"  Roaming through the vast, snowy streets of Toronto, Jonah lyrically explores the connection he still has to his Japanese heritage singing "strawberry is the cloth that i am cut from...who’d have thunk i’d leave out with the lump sum." Co-produced with Monsune and the first song he recorded for his upcoming LP, Jonah says he was inspired by “kraut rock” which is defined by the era’s long droning heavy guitar riffs and static chord progressions. He also says it's the loudest song he's ever made. Recording the album between Tokyo's Red Bull studios, a log cabin in Nagato, Toronto's Studio 69, and his own home, 'souvenir' (out Father's Day, June 21st, via Innovative Leisure) features collaborations with his father Tatsuya Muraoka, BADBADNOTGOOD, and Jacques Greene. Jonah Yano x delicate
Notion Magazine claims that Jonah Yano is "a tonic you all need to drink in these crazy times."  And Clash Magazine speaks on his new single delicate as "softly lit tones with a jazz influence, his fuzzy, lo-fi sense of soul touches upon the intimate at every turn."  Check the new single + video out now; his debut album souvenir is set to release on June 19th.
