Jimmy Edgar, one of electronic music's most versatile and unique producers, has just shared a futuristic double A-side single for collaborations with hyperkinetic pop producer SOPHIE and fellow Detroiter/hip-hop mainstay Danny Brown. The new singles arrive in the wake of Edgar’s collaboration with Hudson Mohawke earlier this year, making for a sprawling trilogy of genre-bending, boundary-pushing forrays through underground electronica and hip-hop, illustrating the breadth of his vision and talent.

"SOPHIE and I met at Fabric in London in the 2010s and since then we have performed live together as well as worked together with artists such as Charli XCX and Vince Staples,” states Edgar. “‘METAL’ is reflective of our love for designer sounds finely sculpted on boutique computer equipment.” The song arrives alongside “GET UP," a tough love motivational set to springy synth flourishes and bass rattling throughout which Danny Brown does irreparable microphone damage.

Chipping away, Rarelyalways follows up the audio release of "Caption" with a new self-directed video. As Fader posts on a quote from the artist/director, "The video is simply snap-shots of a figure who has a weak support network with an unlimited amount of freedom, which could be perceived as abandonment. Throughout the scenes we frame awkward moments as we see this figure age via his shoe size.” More to come from RA in the next couple of weeks.

Matt Wilkinson of Apple Music premiered "Caption" by Rarelyalways on his radio show recently claiming: "This is where people like Arlo Parks, Fontaines D.C. & slowthai got their break when they were starting out. Today we add to that list another incredible talent. Rarelyalways is about to blow up in a big way."  Shortly thereafter, Pitchfork shared the track and said of the artist: "he synthesizes his influences while effortlessly carving out a niche for himself."  Expect more from Rarelyalways later this year with his upcoming EP Baby Buffalo.

Peel is the debut project from Sean Cimino and Isom Innis; both multi-instrumentalists, as well as a visual artist and producer respectively. The project was born from a month-long recording session between the two artists within Innis’s concrete loft, above the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Naturally, the cavernous space served as an industrial incubator for musical experimentation: where fleets of sewing machines once reverberated in the 1930s with metallic rhythms, now echoed a wall-of-sound of drums, amps, and modular synthesizers. Inspired by such legendary records like Second Edition [Public Image Ltd.] and The Pleasure Principle [Gary Numan]; records where spirit and improvisation guided expression.
